Happy July!


Summer has officially arrived, bringing long Alaska days, sunshine, and countless opportunities to gather with friends and neighbors. As we welcome a new month, we're excited for all the fun and fellowship that July has in store here at the Chugiak Senior Center.


This year, our Fourth of July celebration is especially meaningful as our nation celebrates America's 250th Birthday. For 250 years, the United States has been a story of perseverance, hope, service, and community. It's a time to reflect on the generations who came before us, celebrate the freedoms we enjoy today, and look ahead with gratitude and optimism. We hope you'll join us for our Fourth of July BBQ on July 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Enjoy great food, lawn games, wonderful company, and one of the best spots in town to watch the parade. Bring your family and friends as we celebrate this historic milestone together.


The fun continues throughout the month with a trip to the Bear Paw Festival, an evening cheering on the Chinooks as they take on the Miners, and our exciting Senior Iron Man Challenge. Whether you're exploring local treasures, enjoying America's favorite pastime, or participating in some friendly competition, there's something for everyone to enjoy.


Of course, these are just a few of the many activities happening this month. From shared meals and fitness classes to games, crafts, and fellowship, there's always something bringing our community together.


Thank you for being such an important part of the Chugiak Senior Center family. We wish you a safe and joyful Independence Day, a wonderful July, and a summer filled with laughter, friendship, and lasting memories.

June 2026 Senior Edition

Welcome to June Where the midnight sun keeps us going, the mountains call us outside, and Alaska summer reminds us to slow down and enjoy the beauty around us. After a long winter, there’s nothing better than gathering together for fresh air, laughter, and community. This month is full of opportunities to connect, explore, and make the most of these beautiful summer days. Whether you’re joining us for an outdoor adventure, trying something new, or simply stopping by to visit with friends over coffee, we’re excited to spend the season with you. This June, we’ll be enjoying: • Scenic nature walks through Alaska’s beautiful outdoors • A cozy summer bonfire with good company and stories • Friendly volleyball games full of fun and laughter • A hands-on pickling party to celebrate summer flavors • Games, social gatherings, crafts, and more throughout the month. We encourage everyone to participate in whatever way feels comfortable and enjoyable. Bringing a friend is always welcome! Be sure to check the June calendar for dates and times of upcoming events. May 2026 Senior Edition

Welcome to May! As the days grow longer and brighter, we are excited to step into a new month filled with connection, celebration, and fun here at the Chugiak Senior Center. We have a wonderful lineup of events planned for you this month. Join us for our Health Fair on May 2nd , where you can explore helpful wellness resources and community services. On May 8th , we look forward to honoring and celebrating together at our Military Gala . Then, get ready to welcome the season at our Welcome to Summer Party on May 18th —a joyful time to gather and enjoy the start of warmer days. We’ll wrap up the month with a sweet treat at our Ice Cream Social on May 27th . Along with these special events, we have many more activities, programs, and opportunities throughout the month to stay active, meet friends, and enjoy all that our center has to offer. April 2026 Senior Edition

Welcome to April at Chugiak Senior Center! As we step into a new month, we’re grateful for the continued sense of community, connection, and care that makes the Chugiak Senior Center such a special place. With spring on the horizon here in Alaska, we’re looking forward to longer days, warmer moments, and plenty of opportunities to gather together. We have some exciting events coming up! Be sure to mark your calendars for our Mother’s Day Brunch on May 10th , where we’ll come together to celebrate and honor the wonderful mothers and women in our lives with good food and great company. We’ll also be hosting a Soup Sale , perfect for enjoying a warm, homemade meal while supporting the center.  In addition to these events, April will be filled with regular activities, friendly faces, and meaningful moments. Whether you’re joining us for a meal, a class, simply stopping by to say hello or you call this place your home, there’s always something happening at the center. We’re so glad you’re part of our community and look forward to seeing you throughout the month!
